In the opening ceremony before the match, Tsukiyama, who was originally scheduled to be a television commentator, was nominated by Rossy Ogawa EP to participate in the tournament as X
As the match began, Lady applied a headlock. Tsukiyama tried to break free, but Lady tightened the hold and took him to the ground. Lady went for a kick, but Tsukiyama dodged a dropkick. Lady tried to pull Tsukiyama up, but Tsukiyama countered with a Palo Special. Lady bit the ropes to escape. However, Tsukiyama immediately followed up with a hip attack and a crossbody. But Lady caught him and spun him10times in a giant swing. Lady delivered a big boot in the corner followed by a shoulder tackle. Tsukiyama threw an elbow, and Lady retaliated. Lady landed a big boot at close range and attempted a chokeslam. Tsukiyama countered with a crossbody. He hit a Gokuraku Don, but Lady kicked out. Tsukiyama ran, and Lady hit a neckbreaker and a chokeslam. Lady got behind Tsukiyama as he kicked out, but Tsukiyama countered and pinned him. The referee counted to three, and Tsukiyama advanced to the next round and achieved his first singles victory.
Tsukiyama's comment
"Lady C's first victory was against me, Tsukiyama Waka. I was surprised and thrilled to be able to participate in the Cinderella Tournament today, as it was so sudden. And I was able to beat Lady C, who was also the opponent of her first victory, someone I've even teamed up with before. I think I'm the hottest woman right now. I'll keep going so I don't let this momentum stop, so I promise I will never get injured, never give up, and never break."
—How does it feel to have your first ever winning streak?
"As I said in my PPV comments before the fight, it still hasn't quite sunk in. Today and the day after, my mind has been completely preoccupied with the pain in my body. And so it's the second fight. But I feel like I've been able to get a little bit of a feel for the tempo and when my opponent might have an opening, or maybe not... I feel good. I'm in great shape!"
—Do you have confidence in winning?
"Winning? I never thought I'd be able to participate in the Cinderella Tournament, so winning...? MIRAI says I'm Cinderella covered in ash, but I've come here covered in mud and practically buried up to my neck in concrete. But I consider myself the kind of person who has lived by filing and filing and filing and filing that concrete every day. I think I'll need hundreds, maybe thousands, more pieces of sandpaper to win. I'll get them ready."

Tensaki dodged a jumping chop and delivered a dropkick followed by a kneebar. Iida escaped, and Tensaki put his leg on the ropes and delivered a dropkick to the knee. Tensaki attempted a swinging DDT, but Iida countered. Tensaki went for the Tensei, but Iida countered with a shoulder throw. Tensaki dodged Iida's elbow and delivered a corner cartwheel elbow and a DDT. However, Iida countered and pinned him. Tensaki kicked out, and Iida delivered a rocket from the corner. When Tensaki countered, Iida hit him with a Northern Lights suplex. Tensaki countered again, and Iida went for a vertical drop. Tensaki countered again and rolled him up in a series of pins. Mizumori quickly got up, shouted "Tropical Yahoo!", and delivered a chop. Sorei attempted a body slam, but Mizumori rolled him up and went for a dropkick. Mizumori delivered a series of shoulder tackles to the outside, followed by a diving body press from a chair. Mizumori brought Sorei back into the ring and delivered a body slam and a running body press. Sorei dodged and hit a running lariat and a shoulder tackle. Mizumori kicked out, and Sorei applied a reverse Boston crab. Sorei pinned Mizumori against the ropes and unleashed a series of reverse chops. Mizumori stopped Sorei's charge and went for an OTR. Sorei tried to do the same to Mizumori, but Mizumori dodged it.The twowrestlers' lariats clashed several times. Mizumori charged, and Sorei hit a lariat. He delivered another spinning one, but only got a two count. Sorei announced his finishing move and aimed for a lightning strike. Mizumori endured, and Sorei charged in, delivering a spinning kick followed by a lariat. Mizumori yelled "It's over!", but Sorei blocked the lariat as well, lifted him up, and threw him out of the ring. Sorei won the OTR and advanced to the next round.

Umezaki brings Kid back in and delivers a low dropkick. Kid retaliates, and Umezaki climbs to the corner, but Kid shouts "Not a chance!" and delivers a superplex arm whip. After an exchange of elbows, Kid lands a flurry of blows. Umezaki prevents Kid from running and continues with a series of elbows, sending Kid collapsing, but Kid reads Umezaki's movements and delivers an elbow attack, followed by a dropkick from behind. Umezaki retaliates, and Kid attempts a spinning diving body press. Umezaki dodges, but Kid rolls her up and delivers a dropkick. Umezaki reads Kid's movements and delivers a dropkick, followed by a Cutie Special. Both are down, and Umezaki climbs to the corner and delivers a missile kick. Umezaki gathers her strength and goes to the corner again. She lands a spinning diving body press, but Kid's shoulder rises. Umezaki attempts a suplex, but Kid rolls her up. Umezaki is on top, but Kid reverses and delivers a neck screw. Kid lays Umezaki down and performs a spinning diving body press. He pulls her up and hits a star suplex. It looked like he had it in, but Umezaki kicked out. Kid puts Umezaki on the corner and hits a dropkick from the second rope, sending her to the apron, but Umezaki spreads the ropes and slams her onto the apron. Umezaki goes for a kick, but they both fall at the same time, and both are disqualified byOTR.
Umezaki's comment
" I came here intending to settle things with Kid in a 10- minute singles match in the first round of the Cinderella Tournament, but I never expected that I would be able to take her down over the top rope, even though I was so close to knocking her out. I never thought Kid would do something so sneaky, so I'm a little confused about it... This singles match was arranged by the company, but next time I have a singles match with Kid, I want to work even harder so that we can arrange it on our own. Also, I have a challenge for the Diana singles title in April, so I will definitely win that singles match, and I have a match I want to have with Kid, so please watch out for me."

"My first match as Cinderella? To be honest, I was more focused on the IWGP (women's) than Cinderella, so I couldn't really think about it. Well, I don't know about matches without the champion being called preliminary matches, but anyway, it was a draw. To have a match in New Japan, and for Mone's first match in Japan to be with me and Hazuki, what could be better? Well, they're saying it won't be streamed on the network and all sorts of things, but I hope you'll all come and see us there."

"My first-round match in the Cinderella Tournament was against AZM. And it was a preliminary match for the IWGP Women's Championship belt. It ended in a draw with a double over-the-top-rope. Giulia went for a brainbuster, but Sakurai countered with a missile kick and a Northern Lights suplex. When Giulia kicked out, Sakurai went for a Shining Buster, shouting "I'm going to finish this!" and heading to the corner. But Giulia climbed onto the corner. Still, Sakurai knocked her down with a headbutt and delivered a diving elbow drop. When Giulia kicked out, Sakurai went to the corner again. Giulia also climbed up and delivered a superplex. As Giulia pulled her up, Sakurai landed a series of elbows. After an exchange of elbows, Giulia slapped Sakurai, who slapped her back. After an exchange of slaps, Sakurai collapsed. Giulia grabbed her hand and delivered another series of slaps. Sakurai was down. Sakurai anticipated Giulia's charge and delivered a big boot. She caught the second one and Giulia went for a back drop and a face lock. Sakurai countered with an STF. Giulia countered with a submission but escaped. Giulia went for a Falcon Arrow but Sakurai kicked out. Giulia declared she was going for the finish and went for a Glorious Driver. Sakurai countered and sent her to the apron. Giulia also went to the apron and they exchanged slaps. Giulia went for a brainbuster but Sakurai reversed it and threw her for an OTR, and Sakurai was declared the winner

Maika wins and declares she's finished the match, but Momo responds with a high kick, a throwing tiger suplex, and a B-driver. Maika kicks out and Momo heads to the corner. Maika catches up and gets into position for a superplex. Momo resists and delivers a high kick from below. She tries to drop Maika with an OTR, but Maika holds on with the apron. Momo jumps from the corner with a Soumatou and Maika falls, giving Momo the win in the first round
