Maki Ito participates in the recording of her entrance theme "Brooklyn The Hole," returning to her roots and showing enthusiasm for the "Cute of Cute Championship" on February 7th in Osaka with Sakura Aya

Maki Ito, who prides herself on being "the cutest in the world," has recorded her own entrance theme song, "Brooklyn The Hole."

Upon arriving at a studio in Tokyo, she began meticulous vocal exercises, showcasing her beautiful voice for approximately two hours

This song has been Ito's signature song since May 2019, and an arranged version has been used since the Korakuen Hall event on January 10th of this year, when her joining Stardom was announced. This is the first new recording since April 2019

After finishing the recording, Ito explained the process, saying, "There was talk of creating a new song when I joined Stardom. However, I thought that changing companies would be very unfamiliar to the fans who have supported me up until now. If I changed the song as well, I thought I wouldn't be the Maki Ito that my fans love. But Ito wanted to bring a breath of fresh air. So I compromised and chose to keep the song but rearrange it and re-record it."

Of course, it's a special song for Ito. When asked about his feelings towards "Brooklyn The Hole," he quietly gazed into the distance and began to speak

"On my first trip to America, to New York, I sold a huge number of portraits. I have to thank the internet. Thanks to people overseas spreading the word on social media that 'MAKI ITOH is an interesting wrestler,' I was given a tremendous welcome. I thought America was the place where I could become a star. At that time, the idol unit I was in just finished releasing a new song. That song was 'Brooklyn The Hole.' As soon as I heard it, I immediately pictured myself entering the ring with this song playing in the background, so I quickly made it my own!"

She further revealed, "It was perfect timing because my head was all fuzzy in Brooklyn, New York. This is irrelevant, but there was actually a guy I was interested in at the time. It didn't work out at all because of my distrust of people, but I also felt a connection to the lyrics, 'I want someone to hold me tight, so I'm searching for true love.' It expresses the awkwardness of me as a person, Maki Ito. I felt a sense of destiny. That's the kind of song it is."

Furthermore, this recording process also yielded an unexpected "by-product." During vocal training, images of her past self, when she began walking towards her goals, flashed before her eyes like a kaleidoscope

"When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming Ayumi Hamasaki. I thought I was one of the chosen ones, and that I was better than average at singing. But my singing teacher told me I was 'terrible.' She said I was among the bottom three out of about 15 people in my class. It was incredibly rude to the other two as well. I was a teenager at the time, so I couldn't really brush it off and I remember being genuinely depressed. I've had quite a difficult life, but I've overcome everything, so I'm only becoming more profound."

Recalling the difficult period that marked her beginnings seems to have strengthened her resolve for the big match. At the Edion Arena Osaka 1st Gymnasium event on the 7th, she will face her rival Sakura Aya for the "Kawaii of Kawaii" belt, which she created herself and which is not officially recognized by the organization

"I'm glad that Sakura Aya is a wrestler with an open mind. I've been watching Stardom for a while, but I was surprised because I thought she was more of a rigid-minded wrestler. This might just be the chemistry between her and Ito Maki, but there's no doubt that her timing and Ito's timing aligned. Ito loves clumsy people like Sakura Aya. The concept of cuteness is different for each person. I want her to come and show us what her own definition of cute is with all her heart and soul. Ito will take it all in and defend this belt."

With the excitement building rapidly, the match is finally upon us
