Starlight Kid vows revenge against World Champion Saya Kamitani in their February 7 Osaka showdown: "I'm remembering how I felt when I first challenged the white color!"

Starlight Kid, also known as "Sky Tiger Dancing in the Night Sky," is burning with a desire for revenge. In the Korakuen Hall event on January 31st, which was the final preliminary match before her World of Stardom Championship match against champion Saya Kamitani (on the 7th at Edion Arena Osaka 1st Gymnasium), she not only suffered a pinfall loss but also had her mask ripped off. With dark clouds hanging over the Osaka showdown, what are the challenger's feelings?

-- His mask was removed in the final preliminary match

Kid, I never expected you to reach for my mask. It just reinforced my belief that Saya Kamiya is truly hateful, and at the same time, it made me realize that she's the kind of person who would do something so nightmarish. Am I perhaps the first person to whom Saya Kamiya, the hateful one, has unilaterally done something so nightmarish...?

—The mask you're holding isn't the one torn by Kamiya-san, but one from your STARS days. And it's torn in the same way…

Kid: This is the mask I wore when I first challenged for the Wonder title (at Korakuen Hall on February 13, 2021, when Giulia was the champion). It was a huge turning point for me, so I've kept it all this time. This time it's my first challenge for the World title, so I'm not exactly going back to basics, but I pulled it out to remember how I felt when I first challenged for the Wonder title

—I lost that match, and on top of that, they cut my mask with scissors and took it off

Kid, I don't know what it was at that time, but my emotions just exploded out. I wanted to re-imprint those feelings into my mind. I'm recalling those feelings and this time I'm going to let out all the pent-up emotions I have towards Kamiya

--This was a turning point match for Kid

Kid: To be honest, that was Giulia's year, and she was amazing. I was the only one among the Stardom homegrown talents who challenged her. Up until then, Kid's popularity had been based on her cute mascot character, but this match showed that I could fight in this way too. I was in a period of stagnation within STARS, and the ambition that had been slowly emerging exploded in this match. The match against Giulia changed my way of thinking and a lot of other things. But it's already been five years since then. Scary... (laughs)

--The first time he won the Wonder Championship was at the Ryogoku tournament in December 2024. It took about four years from his first challenge, but this time

This was Kid Shiro's fifth attempt. I'm the kind of person who always takes a long time to win a belt, but I want to change that. This time I want to win it on the first try. Plus, my opponent is Kamiya, with whom I have a history, and he's really exploded in popularity in the pro wrestling world right now, so if I, with my physique, can win it on the first try, it would be a huge achievement

--What will happen to the organization if Kid wears red?

I think Kid can completely change the landscape of Stardom. I think that having someone of this physique reach the top will change how fans and the media view it. After all, because it's openweight women's pro wrestling, I've always wanted to change those preconceived notions. Also, right now Stardom is dominated by HATE. I want everyone to follow suit if this changes. I want to be at the forefront of that. I think the fans are probably getting tired of HATE being the only thing that matters

--At the signing ceremony the other day, champion Kamiya made a shocking confession, saying, "I've always thought he was an annoying senior."

Kid, that part was taken out of context, but I thought, "Oh, so that's what she was thinking." Well, maybe it was unconscious, but maybe I was just letting out a lot of jealousy. No, maybe I was doing it consciously (laughs). I didn't know that Kamiya also knew that Star Crusher had that meaning (not just destroying star players, but destroying Kid). I also see her as a somewhat special person, so in many ways she's a great source of motivation for me. But now that I've beaten Kamiya and taken what I wanted to take from her, I might feel that way even more than I do now

 --lastly

Kid: This time, it's a singles World of Stardom match against Kamitani, but in the last preliminary match, HATE's seconds tried to interfere with me using a weapon, so I'll definitely keep that in mind. And I will win. I want to completely defeat Saya Kamitani. I want to be at the forefront of ushering in a bright new era for Stardom!
